Harry Styles, The Script, Ellie Goulding and more win big at the O2 Silver Clef Awards 2018

Publish date: 2024-05-07

Yesterday (July 6), the O2 Silver Clef Awards 2018 took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. Hosted by Edith Bowman, the awards recognise excellence in music whilst the ceremony itself helped to raise money for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

One of the evening’s big winners was Harry Styles, who took home the coveted fan-voted Best Live Act Award, sponsored by Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Receiving 60% of the vote, Harry beat the likes of Ed Sheeran, Adele and Dua Lipa to take home the award. Whilst this is Harry’s first solo win, he won the award for Best Live Act in 2013 and 2016 as part of One Direction.

Speaking about Harry’s latest achievement, Andrew Parsons, MD Ticketmaster UK said: “Harry Styles is a global sensation who won the hearts of many in One Direction and continues to do so in his solo career, so it’s not surprising that he has earned the title of Best Live Act. It’s great to see such support for the British star after his record-breaking debut album and world tour – this award is thoroughly deserved.”

Irish band The Script were awarded the Raymond Weil International Award. Speaking about their win, the trio said: “We are honoured to receive the Raymond Weil International award at this year’s O2 Silver Clefs. We saw first-hand at a recent visit to Nordoff Robbins, the power of music therapy and we know from personal experiences how music can heal. So, to be supporting this charity through this event feels very special to us.”

George Ezra, who is currently number one on the UK Singles Chart with ‘Shotgun’, was awarded the AEG Present Best Male Award, whilst Ellie Goulding took home the Liz Hobbs Group Best Female Award. Other winners included Jorja Smith, Stereophonics, Roger Waters and Robert Plant.
