Tyler Gaffalione born September 12, 1994, in Davie, Florida is an American jockey who has become one of racing’s rising stars since winning the Eclipse Award for 2015 U.S.

Champion Apprentice Jockey. In his first three full seasons, he has won more than 200 races. He rode War of Will to victory in the 2019 Preakness Stakes. Gaffalione is the son of former jockey Steve Gaffalione, who rode from 1978 to 1998.

He received his first pony when he was four years old and spent a lot of time on the backstretch with his father. Gafflione graduated from Sunlake High School in 2013 after attending Western High School.

Tyler Gaffalione primarily raced at Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Race Course in 2018. On Salty, he won his first Grade I race and ended eleventh on the National Earnings list.

With War of Will, he and trainer Mark Casse won the Preakness Stakes in 2019. In 2021, he will marry Casi (Lynnard) Edwards.
